Calcutta Rules
NEW RULES STARTED IN 2024!!

Each player will select a 3 man team.  The total score of the 3 players will determine the winners.   Each player plays three 6 hole matches.  Matches are scored ONE (1) point for each hole won, and an extra Two (2) points for winning each match.  The maximum available points are 24 per man (18 + 6) – therefore the best 3 man score is 72.   NEW FORMAT – matches will be played 3 holes on front 9 and 3 holes on back 9.   The first round of bidding is before the foursome assignments.  The second round will be after foursomes are determined.

All players will have a 3 man team. It is NOT possible to end up with a 2 man or a 4 man team. Each player is auctioned off 3 times. You CANNOT own a player more than once on your team. Minimum bid is $50, maximum bid is $400.   The bidding will proceed as follows:   The first round will be a draft based upon a random draw (cards will be passed out, with high card getting first pick). Everyone will get one player in the first round. All of the players will be posted on a “draft board”. When your card is up, come up to the board and select your player. That player is yours and cannot be selected again in the first round. The players will be listed in 4 categories – handicaps -6 to Base for $200, handicaps +2 & +4 for $150, handicaps +6 to +10 for $100, and handicaps +12 to +18 for $50. The category you select from determines how much of your money you spent. If you take a $200 player, you only have $300 left to select your next 2 players. With minimum bid of $50, this means you can spend a max of $250 on another player.   For the next 2 rounds the bidding will be by open outcry. Bids are in $10 increments. First guy to get recognized gets the bid. In the case where there are no bids on a player, the player goes into the Hopper. Minimum bid is $50.   Players left in the hopper from the second round or third round will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the end. The bidder with the most money left gets their first choice of the players in the hopper. If all players have only $50 left, there will be a random draw for the players left in the hopper.

This year we will have a payoff for LOW points. So you have a choice whether to go HIGH or LOW. If you go low, you CAN bid on guys in your foursome. This will give you the opportunity to bet on yourself by bidding on guys in your group on the assumption you will be taking points from them. Once you bid on a guy in your group you have declared you are going LOW and you cannot win the HIGH.    $50 per man into prize pool – total of $1,800.    Payoff is as follows: Winner of tourney – $100 (most points)   2nd place pays $50, Third & fourth get $25   The team owner whose 3 players have HIGH score gets first place money of $600.  The team owner whose players have the LOW score gets $500. Second place HIGH pays $200 and third place pays $100. Second Place LOW pays $100. 4th place HIGH get $50, Third LOW gets $50.

We have discontinued the tradition of the Calcutta winner buying dinner after the round. Since RonJon’s doesn’t have $3 burgers anymore, the winner has ended up losing money. The winner can feel free to buy a few cigars and pass them around or grab a few bottles of crown for the parking lot celebration.
Ultra Vegas
Max score is TRIPLE BOGIE on Ultra Vegas day

After determining rotation, players switch partners every 3 holes.   After each hole combine the (net) lowest score of one team to the (net) lowest score of the other team. Example, a 5 and 6 combined score is 56, a 8 and 4 is 48.  The difference between the two scores is the point difference recorded on the card, with the winner being the lower of the two numbers.  In this example 56 – 48 is 8 points. If one of the players has a NET par, the other team score is flipped. A 56 score becomes a 65. Now 65 – 48 is 17 points. A BIRDIE FLIPS A PAR.   The Handicap stroke CANNOT be applied to a Cap.  For example, if a player is getting a stroke on a par 4 and scores a natural 8, he gets a seven, if he scores a 9 it becomes a net 8, if he scores a 10 or higher he gets an 8.   This same concept is played on the greens for putts. A 1 Putt to flips your opponent’s score on the greens.  A one putt and a two putt vs. a two putt and a three putt is 13 to 32 – a 19 point hole.
3-2-1 Milo
Simple game and BGA’s oldest.  It is sometimes played in team format with with an A player partnered with a D player against a B and C Player.  More often is is individual with teammates in the other foursomes. There are 3 bets – Front 9, Back 9 and Total.

The player with the lowest NET score on the hole collects 3 points, second collects 2 and third gets 1 point.  The fourth place gets zero points.  If two or more players tie the hole at any position they simply split the available points.  If 3 players tie for first then 2 points go to each player. If 2 tie for first they get 2 1/2 each, etc.
Progressive Skins With Accelerator
To win a skin or skins, you must have a lower net score than the other three players in your foursome. In the event that two or more players tie for the lowest net score the skins carry to the next hole.   Skins progress each hole from 1 to 6 and then revert back to 1 to start the progression again.

The Accelerator comes into play when all four players in the foursome are on the fairway off of the tee box, or on the green on a par 3. All bets are doubled on that hole, including skins, Junk. It does not include carryover skins, however Accelerator skins do carry over if there is a tie. For example, on a 5 skin hole with 4 carryovers, an accelerator would double the 5 to 10, added to 4 carryover equals 14 skin hole. If that hole is tied, next hole is 14 plus 6 for 20 skin hole. All junk is doubled except for Newts and Twofers. You CANNOT get the accelerator on the first hole unless all four FIRST drives are in the fairway, breakfast balls don’t count. You CANNOT get an Accelerator on a mulligan.
Horse Race 2025
There will be 16 two-man teams playing a 27-hole tournament.  Each two-man team will play 3 nine-hole matches.  We will count holes won as 1 point each, ties as 1/2 point each, match wins as 2 points. Total points possible is 33 (3 x 9 for winning all holes + 6 for 3 match wins)   The Format will be as follows: 1st 9 – Hi-Lo 2nd 9 – Sucker in the bucket 3rd 9 – Chapman   See the GAMES tab for the rules of each game.   Each player contributes $30 to the prize pool.  The $960 prize pool will be split as follows:   $200 to First Place Team ($100 per player) $100 to Second Place Team ($50 per player) $60 to Third Place Team ($30 per player)   The team tie-breaker is points on First nine, then second nine then third nine   $300 goes to the player who scores the highest by picking the 3 teams with the highest COMBINED total of points.

$100 to Second Place owner   $50 to Third, Fourth & Fifth place owners   $50 to player who picks LOSER team that scores fewest points – you cannot pick your own team.    Each player picks 3 teams in any order. Add the scores of your 3 teams for your total score. Ties split the pot.   The $20 must be paid when you put in your picks.  You can submit your picks on a piece of paper WITH YOUR NAME ON IT, or text it to me at 847-707-5223.  Also, keep track of who you picked and total the points up yourself – if you think you have the highest total, then shout it out at the payoff ceremony. You need to know your own total, we won’t be totaling up all the scores, just checking to confirm highest totals.
Hi-Lo   Played with handicaps. Each hole is decided by matching up the scores – Low score vs. low score and high score vs. high score.  This is a hole by hole Match Play game. For example, you score a point for winning high ball and a point for winning low ball, ties split. After totaling the points on that hole, the most points on that hole is awarded the hole and ONE match point. A tie is scored 1/2 point each. The next holes starts with a clean slate, no carries. There are 9 possible points in the game. The winner of the 9 hole match is the team that wins the most holes.
Sucker in the Bucket
Played with Handicaps. Start by flipping a tee to see who has honors and tees off first.  At the end of the hole, the team without honors picks a NET score of one of their two players to use on that hole. The other team then picks a score.  The team that is down in the match gets to chose second, unless it is tied and then the choice alternates through the match.  At the end of the match you must have used 5 scores from one player and 4 scores from the other. No changes are allowed after a selection is made. Selections must be made before teeing off on the next hole. The team that wins the most holes wins the match and is awarded an extra 2 points.
Chapman
This game is played WITHOUT handicaps. Both players drive and then play their partners second shot. After the second shot, the partners select the ball in the best position and then play that ball alternately until the ball is holed. Whoever hit the second shot that is chosen, the other player must hit the third shot. If a shot is hit out of play (water or OB), a one stroke penalty is assessed and then the alternate player hits the next shot. There will never be a case in alternate shot where the same player hits the same ball twice in a row.  The winner of each hole receives one point out of a possible 9 points.  The team with the most points at the end of 9 is the winner of the match and receives an extra 2 points.
Basement Vegas   The rules for Basement Vegas are the same as regular Vegas (see below). The difference is in the betting.    Each 3-hole match is played for $5. All junk is doubled to $2 and the Sanford is $4. The skode pool is $10, but made and missed skodes are still $1. Vegas points are $.25 each. At the end of the round, each player declares how much money they are starting with, and the player who ends up losing the most money is in the BASEMENT. The player in the basement PAYS the biggest winner an additional $20.

**BONUS Birdie Bet – if 2 players, no players or all players get a birdie during the round, there is no payoff. If one player gets a birdie, the 3 other players pay him $5, if 3 players get birdies, the player who didn’t get a birdie pays all three $5    In Basement Vegas a Triple Bogie is MAX score on a hole, and the Accelerator is in play. Max score is a TRIPLE BOGIE for scoring Vegas.
Milo Robin
The Milo Robin is simple version of 3-2-1 Milo played when there is no bet across the foursomes. Each player plays 6 holes with each other player in a 3-2-1 match against the other 2 players. Usual bet is $5 per match. Teams are chosen before teeing off by tossing balls or flipping tees.  You can also use long drive plus shortest drive as first team, then long drive and second shortest drive 2nd team, etc.
Skins with Carry
To win a skin or skins, you must have a lower net score than the other three players in your foursome. In the event that two or more players tie for the lowest net score the skins carry to the next hole.   Skins are $1 each and all players play for themselves, there are no teammates.   The accelerator is in play and doubles the skins on that hole.
Rabbit & Chicken
Ask Captain Fun how to play he will explain it with his PowerPoint. This game can be played in conjunction with any other game since it is an overlay. Usually a Rabbit is played for $2 each and is a 6 hole skins match; while Chickens are $1 and are a Three hole skins match. So there is usually 3 Rabbits and 6 Chickens per 18 holes.
